Our Story

We were a group of women in Bam who were financially in the hardest time in our lives, after the earthquake in Bam(2003), we suffered a lot of emotional trauma due to the loss of our loved ones and other people in Bam. The situation was terrible that you probably wouldn’t be able to imagine that. WE decided to change. So in consultation with one of the tourism activists, we finally establish a travel services company. Of course, we had no familiarity with the industry and did not know where to start.

We provided the necessary training remotely and, in addition, we passed the necessary training through the Civil Aviation Organization (plane ticket sales), Raja Trains Company (train ticket sales) and the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (tourism services training). In 2007, we succeeded in registering and establishing a cooperative company for travel and tourism services. We are fascinated to show Iran and its culture, its amazing people its food and of course the country itself to all the people around the world.

During 10 years of continuous activity in providing services to foreign tourists, we faced a challenge with the pronunciation of the company name by business partners and foreign travelers, after holding several meetings with colleagues and branding experts, we decided to change the company name, which in October 1399, we changed the name of the company to Kootook Sir Iranian Air Travel and Tourism Services Company and continued our activity with Kootook brand.

Tourism and environmental protection

In 2003, an earthquake destroyed our home town Bam. With the intention to revitalize tourism in Bam and Iran’s Southeastern provinces, we founded Kootook shortly after. Today, we are a well-established incoming tour agency specialized in cultural journeys and operating all over the country.

Yet, Kootook is also a socio-economic project founded by Iranian women with the vision to revitalize Bam, cooperate with other Iranian women’s projects and to serve as a model of empowering women in economic respects. As such, our aim is not merely profit maximization as self-purpose. Instead, we believe in the concept of ‘growing by sharing’ and think it is a good idea to bring together people’s best competences. We therefore cooperate as much as possible with local and national partners who share a similar vision to ours. For this approach, we got awarded as Best Travel Agency of Kerman Province and as Best Cooperative Company of Kerman Province.
